Bare with me now.

I don't know why but finding animals/insects in nature doing their thing is such a treat for me.  I guess I am just thrilled at all the "natural" things happening around us all the time.  We found this spider while waiting for our race to start.  It wasn't bothered when we touched it's web so I was able to stick my camera behind it and get some cool shots.  Super cool man. Enjoy.

Turkey Trot 2009

Dana Point Turkey Trot 2009.

So far we've done this race for 3 or four years.  I don't know how much my siblings appreciate me making them do it but I really like it.  My kids love it and it has become tradition for us now.  The weather today was so nice.  I never got a complete group shot but Nephi and his girlfriend, Amanda ran with us as well.

Now I can eat whatever I want today!

Joe is off to Romania.

My brother Joe came and stayed with me for a week before he left for his mission to Romania.  It was a real treat to have him here.  He is the youngest in our family (#10) so I have never really lived with him.  It was nice to have so much one on one with him.  I did share him a bit with my brothers who live down here as well.

Jon and Joe at the Newport Beach temple.

Elder Hirt

Lunch in Laguna Niguel at Johnny Rockets.  Denali took this shot.

Down at the tide pools.  It was such a beautiful day.

Saying good-bye.  One last shot of Joe before he goes.

We will miss you Joe!

I'm back

Ammon's team took 3rd.  It was a great way to end the season.  They won 5-1.  Ammon had the best coach ever and a great team.

Micah is getting big. Turning 12 in less than 2 weeks.  This picture proves it.  He will still let me kiss on him though.  Makes me happy.

Denali is a silly girl.  This picture proves it.  I was trying ot get a nice picture of us both and this is all I got out of her so I gave up and joined in.  She's 100% scamp!

These are just a few of my favorite shots from soccer this weekend.  It was fun.  Glad it's over and I can have my saturdays back.  All the kids really improved.  We lost our camera and got a new one.  That is why I do not have any of Micah or Denali.   Their season was over before I got the new camera.

lazy blogger. that is me

I was too lazy to blog anything this month.  It's been filled with 4 soccer games each saturday and lots of homework during the week.  I decided I would try to update this blog the other day and found that my camera is lost.  What's a blog entry with out any pictures?   Boring.

Denali has started to read.  It's pretty cool.  She just sounds out the most basic of words.  She gets mad now if we don't give her a turn during family scripture reading.  She believes she is fully deserving of as many verses as the next reader!

I have started working on Christmas presents.  I am so excited.  Can't wait to post what I've done but that will be in 2 months.

Halloween is coming and I have some cool ideas for the kids' costumes.  I hope they turn out.  Denali is going to be a puppy.  She is such a dog lover.  Dylan will be a spy.  The cutest one I have ever seen.  He is so adorable with his mustaches on!  Micah and Ammon are going to be a venus fly trap and a person riding a hot air balloon.  Should be cool.  I will post pictures of all the fun if I find my camera.

Good-Bye Eva Jane

She said she would.  And she did.  Eva moved to Colorado today.  sniff sniff.

I will miss you terribly Eva Jane.  But I am just going to call you all the time like I always do.

Good Luck out there!

I hear people from Colorado are weird.

And they have 4 seasons.  Weird, I tell you!

As Dylan's birthday approaches...

Dylan has a birthday coming up so some of his birthday packages have been trickling in.  We let him open them as they come.  (You enjoy every present more and your birthday lasts longer.)  So here is Dylan getting a card from Grandma and Grandpa Hirt in Alaska.  He actually giggled at the card and was completely delighted when $20 floated to the floor!
Dylan received this one in the mail to day from Annie and the gang.  Most of you probably know that Dylan had a beloved stuffed dog just like this one that he lost.  It was really sad.  Annie bought him a replacement.  He said he wouldn't like it but we all knew differently.

Can't have tags on his new Kaywin II.

The contents of the box were just as fun.  Dylan made an island surrounded by lava.Hanging like the good ole days.

Thanks Annie!  It was perfect.  He is really happy.

First Day of School

First day of school 2009-2010.

Micah 6th grade

Ammon 4th grade

Dylan 1st grade

Denali wanna be school aged sister.

Last Day of Summer

We have enjoyed having pool days with friends this summer.  We spent our last day of summer in the pool.  It's funny how life totally switches gears once they go to school.  Now I can't seem to see how I had the time.  Good times.

These boys are good buds.  Friends Forever.

Skylar is just the right age.  Denali loves to play with her.  Especially this game of horsie riding!

Check out that tan line

Denali is my brown girl.

Buckskin Gulch

Dan and I had the opportunity to hike some beautiful narrows.  Buckskin gulch to be exact.  It was really fun.  We were pretty dirty but it was worth it.  Thanks Eva (my sister) for making this happen.  You are super cool.  SO was everyone else that went.  It was nice company and lots of laughs.
It was nice to be in the desert.  Dan almost stepped on a rattlesnake.  We are seriously lucky he didn't get bit.  We came across a king snake.  It was really scared and quite aggresive.  We got video of it striking the camera.  It's not a poisonous snake so we were not being too crazy.  Mostly we were surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery on earth.  The stars were out at night and so was the moon light.  A nice way to end each night.

Peach season

Just in case you didn't know. It's peach season and we have eaten about 400 of them.  They are so good!  Especially the white ones.  We cannot get enough.  Makes me so happy that I live in California where the produce are to die for.  We are spoiled.

Didn't get enough

Beach time that is!  We haven't gone to the beach as much as we would have liked to this summer so we are making it a top priority until school starts.

We have 10 more days until it does.  Yikes!!!

Here are a few shots from the last time we went.  More to come......

Ammon and Denali

Micah and Ammon fresh from the waves.

Micah and Ammon are in there somewhere.

I love Denali in this shot.  I didn't know she was even there.
I was trying ot get a picture of my friend, Jenny, boogie boarding.

I am pretty cool ya-know.....

I made Denali a dress.  Just a simple jumper. I thought I had picked out some really cute material.  It was a corduroy, argyle print in hearts.  Once I finished the dress it just said, "blah." to me. I played with some ribbon on the hem but couldn't quite match the blue or green with ribbon in the store.  Then I decided to try and make an owl out of scrap materials.  This was a first for me and I love how it turned out.  Check out my coolness man.

Denali is going to be the bomb this Sunday!

I just gotta find some good brown shoes now.  he he.

This is my favorite feature.  I found the coolest vintage buttons for the eyes.  They are perfect, texture and all.  My camera stinks but you can see the detail enough to get my drift.
